I <3 books.
This is a very dangerous/awesome thing.
Matt <3's books.
This is also a very dangerous/awesome thing.
Together Matt and I purchased 3 books today and if we didn't both have to pee (I realize that info is TMI but it is vital in understanding why we exited the store without more items) we would be in even bigger trouble. There really is a limit to how much will fit in, on and around the truck and we are only a week into our trip!
That isn't all - we also obtained a really nice french press because Matt's lovely and fancy coffee maker wouldn't fit in the truck and is now at his mom's in RI. And who can buy just a coffee press? Not us! We had to get a french roast to break in the press, and not to be out done I got some peach tea to steep in there as well. Please admire my amazing restraint in not buying to-go mugs for us both. However, when/if I burn my hands or can't find a cup, my happiness at that fact might totally go out the window.
Still, that isn't all. We got local organic apple hard candies because 'maybe we'll want these while we're driving' and gummy bears because they're Matt's favorite. (Ugh - Who seriously likes gummy bears??? Don't tell him I said that).
Last but not least we found 2 bottles of wine we couldn't live without and plan on trying when we get to Charleston. There is an adorable B&B with our name on it for Thursday and Friday with a kitchenette - and what goes best in a kitchenette but wine? NOTHING!
But it's not our fault, this silly purchasing of things we absolutely can not live without. I blame it all firmly on my Aunt Pam who sent us to perhaps one of the most perfect stores ever (albeit, one without shoes) A Southern Season, AND a used book store near UNC in Chapel Hill. You see, we were helpless in the face of awesomeness.
In other news, I was looking through the photos I've taken the last few days and realized there were a couple I liked that I didn't put on here. Enjoy people :)
This is me (duh) at a rest stop in West Virginia where they had one of those great smush-a-penny machines. You got to choose what you wanted put on the penny so we picked an imprint of the state house.
This is my favorite picture while driving yesterday (Tuesday) because you can see these beautiful low clouds all around the mountains in the distance. It looked like this for a few hours every time we would drive around a bend until the sun came out and burned the fog away.
We had been seeing signs for a while advertising a gentlemen's club in Virginia called Southern X-Posure. All the billboards had these gorgeous women on them and were simply enormous. There must have been a few with the same name because there were multiple signs for a long stretch of road. We had to get gas at one point and took an exit with one of these places near the on ramp. I just had to take a picture. I find this really funny.
I also had to take a picture of Matt driving because it has been a large part of my view for the past few days and will continue to be for the next couple weeks. I like this shot in particular because you can see Matt in all his cuteness, and the mountains out the window behind him. Adorable and scenic, what more can you ask for?
Tonight is/was our last night in North Carolina - tomorrow we drive to Charleston for 2 days and then continue on south and west. I'm glad we came; it was beyond great to get to visit. For our last evening we all went to a restaurant in downtown Durham called Pop's Trattoria and everyone loved their meal. I know I keep saying I'm not going to turn this into a food blog, but at least for tonight I'm giving in to my need for foodie pictures. Here is what we had to eat, accompanied by a lovely Dolcetta D'Alba:
